30 Days of gaming – post 7 – favorite game couple

There aren’t exactly a boatload of romantic relationships in video games, yet it didn’t take me long to think of this one.

Salem and Rios from the Army of Two franchise.

I know I’m the 589437480342th person to make a joke about these two guys being a couple even though they aren’t (or are they…), but I can’t resist.

The Army of Two games’ stories would be much more engrossing if Salem and Rios were, indeed, in a relationship. Could you imagine – two longterm lovers fighting for the same company constantly having to look after each other to make sure the other on is okay so their love can continue to flourish after each assignment?

That would be video game gold right there. It would be much better than two guys who are just friends. The stakes of helping each other would be raised infinitely if the two lead characters were romantically involved.

And the developers wouldn’t even have to go overboard with sexuality, either. They could be shown waking up together in the same bed in the opening sequence, maybe share a kiss at the end of a few missions and become extremely aggravated when one partner goes down (which could result in a power up of some sort…).

This is genius. Clearly I am on to something here. This would be the perfect twist in the third game.

I am unreasonably excited from the thought of this scenario.

Please, no one tell me this will never happen and crush my dreams.
