Deus Ex: Human Revolution was a game I had been looking forward to for a long time. In a year with meaty, high-profile releases such as Gears of War 3, Battlefield 3, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, I imagined it would fly in under the radar for the masses, yet I had been salivating over it since the first trailer hit. It looked like everything I wanted in a game: stealthy action with open, decision-based combat that required some noggin use.
To put it shortly, after I had beaten it, Human Revolution was exactly what I was looking for in a game. I haven’t been this satisfied with a game since Hitman: Blood Money or Heavy Rain, which are two of my favorite games of all time. So yeah, it’s an important game to me and an important step in the development across the spectrum of gaming. It still has its flaws; I can’t deny that. I’ll get to them in the series entries, but it’s so much more than just a slightly flawed stealthy action game.
Starting Sunday, September 18, 2011, I’ll be publishing one blog a day for six days, each addressing different topics about Human Revolution. Each day, one of the following links will be unlocked and added to my blog for your reading pleasure.
